The History of Philosophy Today.

Abstract

The history of philosophy is a problematic concept. On the one hand, it seems that the notion of history necessarily implies a sort of conceptual relativism; on the other hand, the idea of philosophy tends to affirm the eternal validity of the truth. The present essay tries to offer an alternative vision, which also implies important consequences on the relationships between the history of philosophy and the other sciences. Some reflexions are offered with regard to the role and place of teaching the history of philosophy in the actual situation of the Italian university.
