Sandro Luce, Soggettivazioni antagoniste. Frantz Fanon e la critica postcoloniale

Abstract

A peculiarity of Frantz Fanon’s theoretical discourse is its dislocating force. Sandro Luce, with his book Soggettivazioni antagoniste. Frantz Fanon e la critica postcoloniale, develops an interesting analysis of Fanon’s connection with the modern age and its philosophical categories. Once immersed in the colonial context, these categories are subjected to a torsion, which reflects an epistemological de-centralisation and a decolonization of knowledge. The result is the introduction of a different account of the modern age and of the subjectivity process from the dominant Eurocentric narrative. The categories and issues of Fanon’s reflections, along with the contributions of the postcolonial critique, represent for Luce an important theoretical instrument to go beyond the uni- lateral European modern thought and its assimilating and excluding tendency. But they also constitute a political instrument for a new reading of subjectivity and governmentality processes, which starts from a dislocating perspective, from the subordinate parts of the society, the ones relegated to the sidelines, in other words those excluded from the political scene.
