Artefatti, ostensione e realtà istituzionale. Le “Unità anti-terrore” nella guerra siriana

Abstract

The article aims to clarify some general features of the institutional domain through the illustration of a case study that is as well a borderline case: the operation of “Anti-terror units” in Syria, emanations of Ypg revolutionary army working in the Northern part of the country, whose initiatives are directed not only against the Islamic state, but also against the Turkish and Syrian states. The political and military fragmentation of Syria opens up a series of conflicts of legitimacy, including that of the ambitions of the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria, of which the Ypg are one of the forces of self-defense. Through the appropriate distinction of the social and institutional entities from the physical-natural ones, and an examination of the notions of artifact and function, crucial to understand the characteristics of the former, we come to define the juridical sphere as a domain connected to the evaluation of the force of ostensive acts and reference to a context.
