Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the philosophical quotations contained in Immaturi (2010), an Italian comedy film written and directed by Paolo Genovese. This movie is about a group of former high school fellows who are requested to repeat their high school graduation exam (in Italian, literally “maturity exam”) because of a bureaucratic hitch with their diplomas. The repetition of the exam will prove an occasion for them to come to terms with their past and to replan their future. The most interesting thing in the movie is that this process of maturation is supported by a constant confrontation with the moral thought of Epicurus and humanities in general, which shows the relevance of this field of knowledge from a moral and existential point of view.
